HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name
.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations."
(Psalm 100, NIV)

I’ll keep it simple today –
I’m thankful
that my wife is strong and healthy after her long ordeal with cancer.
for the privilege (and it is that!) of serving a local church as pastor.
for the amazingly rich life that God has allowed me to enjoy.

I’m thankful
for the love of friends who are precious treasure in my life.
for great kids (yes, they are adults but they’re my kids) who are blessed with health, strength, and creativity.
for Jesus and His love.

And the word from the Word today - "Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18, NIV)

Come Ye Thankful People Come

Come ye thankful people, come.
Raise the song of harvest home.
All is safely gathered in,
‘Ere the winter storms begin.
God, our maker, doth provide
For our wants to be supplied.
Come to God's own temple, come,
Raise the song of harvest home.

All the world is God's own field,
Fruit unto His praise to yield.
Wheat and tares together sown
Unto joy or sorrow grown.
First the blade and then the ear,
Then the full corn shall appear,
Lord of harvest grant that we,
Wholesome grain and pure may be.

For the Lord our God shall come,
And shall take His harvest home,
From His field shall in that day
All offences purge away.
Give His angels charge at last
In the fire the tares to cast,
But the fruitful ears to store,
In His garner evermore.

Even so, Lord, quickly come,
To Thy final harvest home.
Gather Thou Thy people in,
Free from sorrow, free from sin.
There forever purified,
In Thy presence to abide,
Come with all Thine angels, come.
Raise the glorious harvest home!
